Sample Containers...

Virtually any sample can be stored including embryos and gametes, skin, tissue, plasma, cord blood, stem cells,
serum, DNA, cell suspensions,
bacteria and virus.

Sample containers generally fall into
3 categories - straws, ampoules and bags.

Ampoules...

...or vials are processed containers of glass, high density polythene and Nalgene to contain or preserve a fluid. Traditionally the ampoule was used to contain a small sample of a person's blood.

Blood bags...

...are used for collection and storage of blood or blood related products. In general they are manufactured by blow casing or calendering. They are available in various sizes normally with guidelines for fill volumes. Placing inside cassettes for cryo-preservation and in some cases storage, allows for the bag to present a thin cross section to the airflow allowing for greater temperature precision.

Straws...

...are now manufactured, specifically to be biocompatible, resistant to cryogenic temperatures and made from a ionomeric resin that is chemically inert.

They are thermally sealed at each end with seal resistance tested to 150kg/cm2.
